I know most of us are nervous when it comes to taking photos but I promise there is no need to worry. I have so many photoshoot poses and prompts that make getting in front of the camera easy and stress-free. It’s my job as your photographer to make you comfortable and make your session as seamless as possible. This blog will give you a sneak peek as to what kind of prompts and poses I use during my sessions. And if you’re a photographer and want to learn some of my techniques – keep reading, I’m spilling all the tea!
I really enjoy meeting with my clients before their session so we can get to know each other beforehand. I like to understand their personalities so I know how to get the best results. This helps me maximize the overall session experience and a lotted time together. This can be via phone, in-person or through an online meeting service like zoom. Either way, I think it’s incredibly important to meet beforehand so we can see if we will be a good fit for each-other. I want to make sure that I am delivering a five-star experience to all my clients and meeting beforehand helps to ensure this.
Additionally, all of my couples who book with me get my style and preparation guide. This guide includes everything you need to know about how to properly prepare for your session so that you get the best results from your session.
This prompt is so fun! It kind of reminds me of the titanic, but it can also be done in several different ways. Usually, one person stands behind the other and grabs the other persons hands and lifts their arms up to create a flying airplane effect! It’s definitely super silly but makes for great candid’s and big smiles! Some couples choose to run around and pretend to be actual airplanes with full on sounds effects, and some just extend their arms and tilt back-and-forth and end in a big bear hug! Whichever way you to choose this prompt it’s all about having fun, so just go for it and see what happens!!
Who doesn’t like a piggyback ride? I mean we all have most likely done this with our partner at some point, so doing this for a photoshoot is no different. Again this is a prompt that can be done in so many ways! If your really adventurous you could even move to your partners shoulders. I usually get so many laughs and natural emotions when couples choose to do this! Stand still, run around or twirl your partner around – there isn’t a right or wrong way to do this prompt!
I absolutely love getting my couples to twirl! And just like the other prompts mentioned above this pose has a variety of ways it can be executed. You can spin your partner around like your on the dance floor or you can grab each-others hands and spin around together! Whichever way you choose you cant go wrong! I especially love this pose when there is a flowy dress involved! It makes for some really great movement and adds a lot of dimension to photos.
Speaking of movement – getting you up and moving is super important to me! Having you move around helps with natural interactions and makes your photos look so much more organic. Usually, when your up and moving you don’t have to focus so much on what emotions you are trying to portray and instead you can just go with the flow and let them naturally come out. That is why I love having couples walk and run! This gets your hair and clothing flowing. Additionally, I like to have couples walk towards me and bump their hips together as they do so. This usually ends up being hilarious! Each couple is so different when it comes to doing this prompt that each couples gallery is entirely unique!
Let’s be honest – everyone loves a good dip! They are dramatic, romantic and just add some kind-of unspeakable magic to photos. Adding a dip to photoshoots is always a fan favorite. Like the other photoshoot poses and prompts mentioned above, a dip can be done in several different ways! You can wrap up, grab your partners face, give them a kiss and dip them all the way back so one foot is off the ground. OR you can smile at each other and bend your upper back a little bit to get a similar effect. Either way you choose to execute this pose will make for a great photo op so take the opportunity to try this pose out! It can take a few tries to get it right, but the first couple can be really silly and make for some great candid’s.
Let’s get you on my calendar and schedule your session so we can get you moving and capture all the memories we possibly can for whatever stage of life you are in. Contact me here to get started.
